The Project

For Chiara and Federico I imagined a total colour project: four shades chasing one another with no hierarchy — the peach of the roses, the blue of the hydrangeas, the fuchsia of the carnations and the yellow of the craspedia. A bright, joyful choice that found its ideal frame in the frescoed halls and Italian garden of Villa Canton, an eighteenth-century residence in Trescore Balneario: the restraint of the Settecento as a backdrop to an explosion of colour.

The bride's bouquet set the tone for everything else: peach roses and lilac lisianthus woven with small sunflowers, craspedia, blue hydrangea and delphinium, lightened with eucalyptus. The same floral alphabet returned along the park's pathway, where I placed small monochrome islands — one peach, one blue, one lilac — as trails of colour guiding the guests, all the way to the large ground arrangement at the foot of the monumental staircase, the widest gesture of the day.

In the reception hall the colour turned more intimate: centrepieces of peonies and fuchsia carnations with branches of ozothamnus and blue delphinium, peach and pink candles lined up along the imperial tables, green anthurium and peach gerberas on the floor beside the vinyl records chosen as table markers. Then the couple's exit down the staircase, among confetti and flowers: every colour at once, exactly as we had imagined it.
